About the STEM Hub
The STEM Hub provides a space for visitors to think creatively, apply their knowledge to solve real problems, and embrace the role of trial and error in the educational process. We want every student, teacher, and parent who walks through our door to leave confident in their ability to make the world a better place!
Who We Are
Boeing partnered with World Learning to establish a center for extracurricular STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) training and education. The STEM Hub aims to equip Egypt’s young scientists, innovators, and entrepreneurs with the necessary skills to serve national objectives and lead Egypt into the next era of technical innovation. To that end, the STEM Hub offers programs designed to allow participants to explore, apply, and innovate through hands-on activities and our project-based learning approach. This unique learning methodology aims to improve the quality of knowledge acquisition as well as leverage the skills, talents, and leadership potential of Egyptian youth.
Special programs are also available for teachers who are interested in developing additional skills in STEM application and delivery. Leading these courses are our wonderful staff of education professionals, STEM experts, and passionate mentors who seek to share their knowledge, experience, and successes with the next generation of Egypt’s problem solvers.
Our mission is to provide high quality programs, workshops, camps, and national and regional competitions that will support students and teachers in enhancing their STEM skills. The STEM Hub will introduce participants to new approaches for applying knowledge, creative thinking, problem solving, and improving skills. We aim to support students to apply everything they learn in schools through real-life experiences. At the STEM Hub, participants will have a fulfilling journey of learning, character building, skills development, and fun that they will never forget!
Inclusion: Our program seeks to reach out and provide opportunities for students of all backgrounds and learning abilities. The STEM Hub also promotes such ideas as gender equality in the field of STEM.
Solution-Oriented Focus: The STEM Hub programs values the role of STEM education as a key contributor to solving challenges faced by people in locally and globally. Real life application of knowledge and skills is essential for this process.
Experiential Learning: The STEM Hub programs are designed around an experiential approach allowing students to develop their ability to reflect, theorize and plan action based on concrete learning experiences.
Unconditional Positive Regard: The STEM Hub upholds the principle that students are to be individually valued and are entitled to have their own feelings and own experiences.
Empowerment for Life: STEM Hub programs value the development of life and work skills as part of the program. Such skills include effective communication, team work and leadership skills.
Global Awareness: STEM Hub upholds the principle of raising students’ awareness of their belonging to a global community with shared challenges as well as their important role within this global community.
What is STEM?
STEM stands for science, technology, engineering and mathematics. STEM education is an interdisciplinary approach to learning where rigorous academic concepts are coupled with hands-on activities to create a project that solves community grand challenges in areas such as energy, water, industry, waste and more. Students work on real-world problems in STEM fields, making connections between school, their community, and the broader world. Around the world, STEM programs are multiplying in number and impact as modern industries seek young recruits who are ready and able to contribute to innovation in these fields.
Through STEM, students develop key skills including: problem solving, creativity, critical thinking, teamwork, time management, presentation skills, independent thinking and communication.
